National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities

“The mission of the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NCMHD) is to promote minority health and to lead, coordinate, support, and assess the NIH effort to reduce and ultimately eliminate health disparities. In this effort NCMHD will conduct and support basic, clinical, social, and behavioral research, promote research infrastructure and training, foster emerging programs, disseminate information, and reach out to minority and other health disparity communities.”

World Health Organization (WHO)

The WHO is also looking at health equity although they have a much look at health disparities from a global angle I feel they are a good resource of looking at the different causes and determinate of health disparities.  This site can also give a much broader view of the problems that are faced around the world and not just in the United States.

National Cancer Institute the National Cancer Institute has a center called, Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities.  This center shows some of the different research there is about how cancer affects the poor or minorities more.  It talks about what these disparities are, who is affected by them, and what different businesses are doing to research the disparities and alleviate them.

Kaiser’s Monthly Update on Health Disparities this site takes information from many different sources and complies it together to show what is going on in the way of health disparities.  It is a good reasource for current information on health disparities and what is currently happening with them.
